Now that the show ended (after 8 seasons), we decided to look back to see who tried to gain the role to live as the half-sister, half-whitelighter, charming Paige Matthews, after Shannen Doherty (BH 90210) from the original cast, leave the show.  The role was inicially offered to Jennifer Love Hewitt, star of movies like I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, IF ONLY, and the old succesful series PARTY OF FIVE, but the actress refused the offer to stay focused on the film industry.  Then, started the struggle between Denise Richards and Rose McGowan, but the role ended up with McGowan. Source: Seriados.com |

i so glad rose got the part as paige as she is my favourite character and she plays paige so well i couldnt imagine anyone doing a better job

Jennifer Love Hewitt, she is a great actress, and I can kind of see her as Paige, but not as much as Rose. I cannot see Denise Richards being Paige. I can hardly see her on the show at all. So I'm glad Rose was chosen.

It's kinda hard to discuss who went for the role of paige, now that the show is over.
I mean that we are all used to seeing rose play paige, so talking about the what if's is kinda weird and hard to do. And to be honest, those other two actresses are too big to play a role in charmed, they wouldn't suit the role - either of them.

Nah, I have to agree with Charmed One. Jennifer would do great as Paige, but not as "Rose'd" Paige. Because I think that Rose McGowan changed her character a bit, from the original description. I mean, look at her in the first 13 episodes of season 4 and the rest of the show...she did change a lot...but yeah, it was kind of predictable.
And I also can't see Denise play as a Charmed One. I am so glad she didn't. I can only see her in the show as a Demon who seduces men, or something...
And, yeah, Rachel, It is in fact, weird to talk about her while the show has already ended...

yey lol what are the odds? I thought Jenny was amazing in I Know What You Did Last Summer 1 and 2 and she is really good in Ghost Whisperer

Yeah, I like her. I don't like her that much in Ghost Whisperers. But the thing is that I think she fits the trio very well...not that Rose sucks, but let's be honest...Rose doesn't really fit the trio as well as is Jennifer would  |

Well as much as i'm not a fan of paige i do think they picked the absolute right girl to play her. As much as i love jennifer as an actress i just don't think it would have worked and what the heck were they thinking with denise richards?!?!?!?! no way!

Denise Richards is the kinda "desperate for work" actress that puts herself to ANY audition. She was an almost F.R.I.E.N.D. co-star, and almost Charmed co-star...what gives ?
She only plays stupid roles of a b*tch
