Delete inactive members ?

I know i ain't staff or nothing. But i hate seeing so many members registered and only 20 of them posting...
I really like the board and it's all tidy and clean, but with the excessive members and not all them active makes me go crazy. What do you all say ? Members get deleted or not ?

I say e-mail them, 1 week later e-mail again and 1 more week later delete everyone who hasn't activated.

i support the 4 month thing, eh some will activate but never log, so why even bother ?

I agree with what It's me ! is saying. We should E-mail members to remind them that they have registered and ask them if they would like to log on and start posting or delete themselves. That's a handy tool on here, to delete yourself rather than always being inactive. I know I'm probably a member of some forums that I forgot about, but I try to visit each one that I do know about at least once a week.

I think adding what Steph said + It's me would do good.

But the problem is, only people who activated their accounts get e-mails.
Therefor, what flawless said is also relevant.

I think that we should give them 2 weeks to come and post or delete themselves. Then we shall delete every member that hasn't activated their account and is older than 4 months

How does that sound ?
Anyone, any other ideas ?

The more you delete the less members you will have on here but yes i think its a great idea give them up to 4 month then delete them.

I partly agree with this. I'd say that you could delete members who have registered, but not activated their account or who may have activated their account, but never logged.

If a member who has been active for a certain amount of time suddenly disappears for a while, I wouldn't delete him/her. There could be a reason behind it. For instance, someone doesn't have access to Internet for a certain amount of time.. or something like that. The person in question might not be able to log on, or reply to emails. You never know the reason. Even I had disappeared for a while, because life had suddenly become very busy for me.

I think that if the amount of time that someone doesn't log on is extremely long (like let's say, a year), then you could delete him/her. But I'd think it out properly and according to how active the member has been before he/she disappeared, you should decide whether to delete him or not..

I partly agree with this. I used to do activity checks at my other forum. The problem is, some people haven't been able to activate their accounts because there are people who never get the e-mail. I like what WesRamseyFan said.
